“Percy Jackson” Movie Night — Friday, April 8

Action and mythology collide in the fast-paced “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: the Lightning Thief,” based on the books by Rick Riordan. Northfield Public Schools Community Services will show the movie at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 8 in the Northfield High School Auditorium.

Public Hearing on 2011-12 Budget

At 7 p.m. on March 16, Superintendent Chris Richardson will present his recommendations for 2011-12 budget reductions at a public hearing in the high school auditorium and give members of the community an opportunity to provide comment to the Northfield Board of Education on the proposed budget reductions and restoration priorities.

Budget Reduction Update

At their Feb. 14 meeting, the Northfield Board of Education reviewed the district’s timeline for the budget reduction process. Anticipating the need to reduce the district’s 2011-12 budget by $2,400,000, the district will plan to spend $1,700,000 of its fund balance to offset a portion of the reduction.
