[Updated] School Closed; Some Activities Continue As Scheduled
Northfield Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 7, because of the continued extreme cold.
Governor Directs Schools to Close
Governor Mark Dayton directed Minnesota public schools to close on Monday, Jan. 6, because of the extreme cold weather predicted. All district classes and activities have been canceled for Monday, Jan. 6.
Community Services February Events
Students ages 8 and older will become Jedi masters as they wield a lightsaber in Lightsaber Dueling, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, andagain on Feb. 22. Class is $14 and will be held at the Longfellow School Gymnasium.
Transformational Technology Proposal & Public Meetings
The Northfield Board of Education was presented with the district's Transformational Technology proposal at it's Jan. 28 meeting.
DECA Students to Compete at State
Nineteen high school business club students have qualified for the opportunity to compete at the Minnesota DECA conference, from March 3 - 5 in Minneapolis.
Spelling Bee Results
The 29th Annual District Spelling Bee was held on Jan. 24, with the top 18 spellers in the middle school competing for advancement.
New Toddlers Class – Jan. 30
The Toddling Toddlers class for ages 16 to 26 months is now full. But Community Services Early Childhood Programs has added another class, tailored for children ages 11 to 20 months.
Popular iPad Class Gets New Section
In response to the popularity of the class, Community Services has added a February section to the winter/spring season of Getting Started with your iPad.
Funtastic Friday Movie/Literacy Night
Families with young children can enjoy an evening out with Community Services this Friday, Jan. 25, at Funtastic Friday Movie & Literacy Night.
