Students with contest-winning essays read to Northfield’s Veterans of Foreign Wars post on January 11 and went on to represent Northfield in the state competition.
Northfield High School student Logan Ledman, who won second place last year, took first place for his essay inspired by a recent visit to Arlington Cemetery. Logan went on to compete at the State VFW competition where his essay and speech on “My Responsibility to America” earned him second place out of nine State VFW District Champions.
Some Northfield Public Schools buses are running significantly behind schedule this morning due to some refreezing conditions in rural areas. We then invited participants to review and prioritize the thoughts of others by placing stars next to the ideas that were most important to them. All after school and evening activities are cancelled today (Friday, December 16) and all activities are cancelled for Saturday, December 17th. This is due to the inclement weather arriving late Friday afternoon that is forecast to continue to create difficult conditions through most of Saturday.
