Nineteen high school business club students have qualified for the opportunity to compete at the Minnesota DECA conference, from March 3 – 5 in Minneapolis. Several of the students qualified in more than one event during the district-level competitions in January, and fifteen of the students earned first, second or third place within the areas they chose to compete.

Students who participate in DECA’s State Career Development Conference will compete to attend the International Career Development Conference.

The Northfield High School DECA organization aims to help students develop into leaders and entrepreneurs, through confidence-building experiences and community service activities.

Recently, DECA students raised $255 to support leukemia research and local cancer patients. Club captains Connor Balfany and Conrad Christensen coordinated the effort, during lunch periods and at sporting events on Dec. 21.

Northfield High School has 56 members in the club this year.
