Northfield Community Education Center
The Northfield Community Education Center (NCEC) opened in September 2020. This building contains Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), Hand in Hand Preschool, a licensed birth to age 5 childcare center (Early Ventures), Adult Basic Education (ABE) and the Community Education main offices. In addition to serving the children and adults in our programs, we want this space to be a resource for the neighborhood and community.
The Northfield Community Education Center (NCEC) is located in the former Greenvale Park Elementary building at 700 Lincoln Parkway. This recently renovated facility houses a variety of educational programs for youth, including:
- Early Childhood Family Education
- Early Ventures
- Hand-in-Hand Preschool
- Early Childhood Screening
- Kid Ventures
- Early Childhood Special Education
- Every child is unique, no two children develop, grow and learn at exactly the same pace; and yet children develop in predictable ways. If you are concerned about your child’s growth, development, or learning, we encourage you to make a referral at HelpMeGrowMN.org or contact Andrea Robbins, Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator, at 507-645-3408 or arobbins@northfieldschools.org.
Community Education programs for all ages are coordinated here as well, including:
- Driver Education
- Project ABLE
- Youth Enrichment
- Youth Recreation
- Adult Basic Education
- Adult Enrichment
- Adult Recreation
- Aquatics
- Youth Development
Community partners, such as the Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) and Community Action Center of Northfield, also provide outreach programs from this space.
Learning in Community
Outdoors, a new community playground is located on the NCEC grounds for the public to enjoy, thanks to a collaboration with KABOOM, StriveTogether, HCI and Northfield Promise. Our indoor playful learning space, designed by the Minnesota Children’s Museum, is in the former media center area. Families enrolled in NCEC programs will learn through play in interactive, child-led, whole body experiences. Funding for this indoor experiential environment is provided by WINGS and Northfield Promise, through the StriveTogether Opportunity Fund.
The Community Education Main Office is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
