Cultural Liaisons

The Spanish cultural liaison serves as a link between the school and Spanish-speaking families within the community. The district’s Spanish cultural liaison, Sebastian Burset, can be contacted at 217.766.5457 or sburset@northfieldschools.org. The liaison assists families with:

Registering for school
Communicating with teachers, health and child nutrition staff
Arranging for interpreters for conferences and other school events
Participating in DSSST, Familias en Acción, Diversity Club and other committees
Interpreting and translating testing for special education
Special events

American Indian Liaison

Mission of the American Indian Program:

Northfield Public Schools preserves, respects, and honors the traditional and spiritual values of the American Indian communities. Students across the district will receive quality education that affirms their cultural identity.

Eligibility Guidelines:

The American Indian Education Program provides services to students and families. In order to receive services the student meets the following criteria:

An enrolled member of a Tribe, Band, or Alaskan Native.
The child of a parent or grandparent of a member of a Tribe or Alaskan Native.
