The list of budget reductions has been updated to reflect the feedback that has been received by both staff and the community. You can view that list here. Please note the updates to lines 48, 56 and 57, which reduces the number of high school teacher FTE eliminated and instead eliminates one high school assistant principal position and adds a security liaison. Line 69, which maximizes licensed staff teaching career technical levy approved classes, has been updated. An alternative to line 76, replacing three building RN/LPN with health aides, has been added (Line 76A) which would instead reduce one RN/LPN and have the licensed school nurse (LSN) covering a building health office.
In addition, drafts of the middle school six period day schedule have been shared with families. See the note and proposed schedules below from Northfield Middle School Principal Greg Gelineau:
Middle School Families,
I appreciate the feedback that families have provided about the potential six period middle school schedule. In response to your feedback, I have been working on ways to meet our priority based budget reduction target, comply with state requirements, and continue to allow students to take multiple music classes or a music and Amistades. It ensures that every student has art each year of their middle school experience and exposes most students to career and technical education courses. For students who receive special education services, their individual education plan (IEP) teams can make determinations about their schedules to meet the needs of the student. With the public listening session tonight, Thursday, April 3, from 6-8:30 pm, I wanted to make sure our families had a visual on what the latest six period middle school draft schedule would look like for students.

Additionally, we have compiled a frequently asked questions document to provide additional context to the reductions. We will continue adding to it throughout the process.
