Dear Northfield School District Families:
As shared in numerous family updates and other formats this fall, the district is asking voters to renew and expand the capital projects levy on Nov. 8 as part of the general election. You must turn your ballot over to see the two school district questions. Approval of both questions will support the following:
- continued maintenance/improvements to our facilities and grounds;
- ensuring updates to equipment and materials to support students and staff; and
- relieving general fund relief by shifting eligible salary/benefits from the general fund to the capital projects levy
If both questions pass, the district will generate $1.65 million in revenue rather than the $750,000 generated by the existing levy. Owners of a home valued at $350,000 will have an estimated $81 increase in their taxes ($6.75 per month) if both questions pass.
You can learn more about the capital projects levy election here.
You can find out where you should vote using the Minnesota Secretary of State’s poll finder. Contact me with any questions about the capital projects levy and remember to vote on Nov. 8!
This update includes additional information about superintendent quarterly meetings, a board update, and additional reminders.
