Requirements of the American Rescue Plan funding (commonly referred to as ESSER III) include posting of a return-to-learning plan (including plans for in-person learning) on the district’s website. Northfield Public Schools posted its Striving Together document outlining its adaptation of the Minnesota Department of Education Safe Learning Plan on August 7, 2020.
Community members representing the district’s various advisory committees were invited to provide commentary about a preview of the plan on July 28, 2020. The District’s incident command team, which includes community members, also met about the plan on August 13.
District representatives had the opportunity to submit public comment at school board meetings. Community members made public comment at school board meetings on August 10, August 24, and November 9, 2020. The summary of these comments included perspectives related to the health and safety of students on campus as well as opinion about maintaining high school athletics regardless of the learning model.
If the public has any further comment, they can contact Superintendent Matt Hillmann via this form.
