Northfield School Board Welcomes New Members Claudia Gonzalez-George and Corey Butler
Claudia Gonzalez-George is a first generation Mexican-American. She graduated from San Pedro High School in California and earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from The University of California, Santa Barbara. She was the first in her family to attend college. Claudia has a teaching license from the state of Oklahoma having taught 3rd and 2nd grade. She has been married to her husband, Kendall George, for 27 years. They have 3 children and their youngest daughter is a sophomore at NHS. Claudia is passionate about public education and social justice issues. She is thrilled to serve her new hometown of Northfield.
Corey Butler is a married father of two children who attend Greenvale Park Elementary. He works in communications for a statewide nonprofit and spent the early years of his career as a reporter and editor covering, in part, schools throughout Rice County, including Northfield Public Schools. Corey previously served the Northfield-area community as a board member of the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative, as vice chair of Northfield.org and as a coach for the Northfield Hockey Association. He likes Harry Potter, and Paul Bunyan and Robin Hood lore. John Steinbeck is his favorite author.
