Greeting, Northfield Public Schools Families:

I hope this message finds you healthy and safe. Today’s update includes reminders about the District’s return-to-campus plan, a reminder about the District’s pulse survey, and an update about the Early Ventures situation I shared with you a few weeks ago.

Return to Campus Plan

Based on Governor Walz’s update to the safe learning plan, the District announced its plan last week to return students to campus. Please review the message I sent on Friday, December 18 with more details.

» You can review the return to campus plan here.

The collective actions we take in the next few weeks will be critical in returning students to campus. I implore everyone to continue to follow the safety protocols intended to reduce the spread of COVID-19. These include but are not limited to:

  • Wearing a face mask when in public.
  • Washing your hands frequently with hot water and soap.
  • Maintaining six feet of physical distance from other people.
  • Avoiding large gatherings.

You can learn more about COVID-19 prevention at the Minnesota Department of Health website.

Pulse Survey Reminder

Thanks to the 498 parents and caregivers who have already completed our second pulse survey. Please take the time to provide us with feedback that we can use to improve our services to you this year. The survey will remain open until December 23 at 5:00 pm. We appreciate your input and encourage you to participate in the survey.

Incident at Early Ventures

A few weeks ago, I shared information about an incident at our Early Ventures licensed childcare program. Earlier today, the Northfield Police Department issued a press release indicating that their investigation had been completed. The District cooperated fully with the Northfield Police Department on the investigation.  The press release also indicates that neither the county nor the city attorney’s office will bring charges in the case.

The District’s priority remains supporting the families involved in this situation and to rebuild the trust damaged by this rogue former employee’s action.

Thank You and Happy Holidays

Once again, thank you for your cooperation and support during these abnormal times. This message will most likely be the last update I provide for 2020. I am grateful to live and work in this outstanding community. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season!

Sincerely,

Matt
