The purpose of this message is to provide details about our pilot COVID-19 testing program with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH.) We will be hosting COVID-19 testing from 1 pm-7 pm on Wednesdays for the next three weeks (December 2, 9, and 16) at Northfield Middle School.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the MDH have stated that testing people without COVID-19 symptoms (asymptomatic) individuals is a vital part of reducing the spread of the coronavirus. Regular testing and having those COVID-19-positive asymptomatic individuals isolate while potentially infectious will help break what is called the “chain of transmission.” A testing regiment like this one could help provide local data to assist us in decision-making about what learning models to use.
Dates: Wednesday, December 2, 9, and 16, 2020
Time: 1 pm – 7 pm
Where: Northfield Middle School (enter through the pool door for queuing purposes)
Wear a face mask
Participants are required to wear a face mask. We will have disposable masks on site for those who forget.
Who can participate?
Students, staff, and their families can participate.
What kind of test is it?
This test is saliva-based. You will spit into a tube. The testing process can take up to 15 minutes.
***Do not eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum for at least 30 minutes before arriving on site.***
What do I need to bring?
- Your smartphone. If you don’t have one, we will have iPads for you to complete the process.
- You must have an active email address.
- If you have insurance, please bring the card with you. No one will be turned away if you don’t have insurance.
Based on their previous experiences with community testing, the MDH recommended that we do not schedule appointments. This will be a walk-in event. Because of the length of time needed, please understand you may have to wait for your testing opportunity. Please plan accordingly.
When will I get my results?
You will receive your results electronically from email@example.com within two-to-three days after the test.
Please understand that this is a pilot program and there are likely to be glitches during our first testing session. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience.
