Help celebrate Minnesota’s second annual School Bus Driver Appreciation Day on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, and let your bus driver know how much you appreciate their dedication to safety.

The Minnesota School Bus Operators Association and Minnesota Association of Pupil Transportation teamed up last year to recognize drivers, who shuttle about 760,000 Minnesota students each day; and Gov. Dayton issued his approval in the form of a proclamation.

On Feb. 28, a group representing state legislators, school administrators and the Minnesota State Patrol will hold a press conference in the metro area honoring exceptional bus drivers.

KYMN Radio listeners can hear Benjamin Bus Manager Jenna Dardis speak with a local school bus driver at 8:45 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 26, in Northfield.

Students are nearly eight times safer riding to and from school in a school bus than in cars, the governor’s proclamation said, thanks to rigorous safety standards for vehicles and drivers, as well as student training efforts.
