American Education Week presents all people with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education. Northfield Public Schools celebrated American Education Week by holding two special events for educators . A luncheon for retired educators was held on Monday, November 23 at the Northfield Community Resource Center.
The annual staff appreciation breakfast was on Wednesday, November 25 at Northfield Middle School. The program recognized the following people for their years of service:
- 35 years – Vicky Chlan
- 30 years – Daniel Foley, Cheryl Mathison and Robin Patrick
- 25 years – John Bade, Krista Betcher, Carol Beumer, Lynn Fossum and Nancy Gunderson
- 20 years – Kim Bauer, Ray Coudret, Mary Harrity-Davidson, Bonnie Klamm, Anne Larson, Keith Nohava, Laurie Noonan and Dawn Sorenson
The Northfield Education Association presented the Teacher of the Year award to Jennifer Lompart, High School EL Teacher. Jackie Meyer, High School Special Education EA, received the Education Assistant of the Year award. Pepe Kryzda and Éva Posfay received the Friends of Education award for their work through Accelerate Northfield at Sibley Elementary School.
