Northfield educators Robert Garcia and Jaci McKay were recognized by the TIES education technology collaborative as two of Minnesota’s “exceptional teachers,” at its annual conference on Dec. 9.

TIES member districts selected a total of 94 individuals to be awarded for having a positive impact on student learning through technology.

Garcia was noted for his creative integration and interdisciplinary activities, including spearheading a Greenvale Park fourth grade “Game App Fair.”

While McKay demonstrates the power of digital learning in her high school English classroom, she has also shared her expertise with colleagues in numerous workshops – helping to lead the district’s iPad initiative.

More than 3,000 people attended the TIES event, according to the organization’s website. The cooperative is the largest provider of education technology professional development in the Midwest.
