Northfield Public Schools would like to remind families that students attending school in the district must have current immunization records on file with their school, in accordance with new Minnesota immunization law.
Changes to the law require that before entering 7th grade, additional immunizations are now received. These include tetanus/diphtheria with acellular pertussis (Tdap) and a second Varicella immunization. Also beginning this year, 7th graders will be required to have one meningococcal immunization. For a complete list of immunization requirements, please refer to the district’s website: at https://northfieldschools.org/about/enrollment/.
To help families get ready for school, Dakota County Public Health is hosting a free “Back2School Vaccination Clinic” for students entering grades 7 through 12. The Back2School clinic will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the Dakota County Western Service Center in Apple Valley (14955 Galaxie Ave.) The clinic is walk-in only – no appointment necessary – and is open to everyone.
Three vaccinations will be provided at the clinic: tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis/whooping cough (Tdap), meningococcal (bacteria that causes meningitis) and HPV (human papillomavirus). Children must be accompanied by an adult and each child must have a signed permission form from a parent or legal guardian. Parents should bring the child’s immunization records, if available. Download the flyer or call 952.891.7500 for more information.
