See “Beauty and the Beast” in a new light this weekend, as local youth team up with professional actors in a musical performance of a classic tale of love and redemption.
Shows will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday, at the Northfield Middle School auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5 per adult and $3 for students in grades K–12 or adults age 55 and up. With that, dates for the Jersey Boys tour and tickets will also be announced. Admission is free for children younger than kindergarten age.
The production is by Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre, an acting company that brings week-long theater experiences to schools, communities and art programs. Student participants are engaged in the entire process, from auditions to performances. Chance Wall and Lauren Longyear co-direct this production, playing the roles of Serafina, Queen of the Gypsies, and the beast. Script and music is by Daniel Nordquist and the set and costumes were designed by Deborah Pick.
