The Northfield Board of Education and district administration would like to invite parents, students and community members to participate in the second meeting of the district’s Calendar Conversation project, from 7 to 9 p.m. on April 2 in the high school upper cafeteria.
As part of a broad discussion of the future of the school calendar, beyond the 2013-14 school year, the district scheduled three public meetings on March 7, April 2 and April 30.
Participants will begin the April 2 meeting with a review of research on the impact of instructional time on student learning, statutory calendar requirements and calendar-related employee contract language. Using a list of calendar components created at the first meeting, participants will build a framework for calendar options that can be fully developed at the final meeting.
The final calendar meeting has been scheduled for the same time and location on April 30. Following the project is no longer available.
Take the Five-Minute Straw Poll
The poll is part of the Calendar Conversation project, intended to provide people a way to contribute their opinions and ideas about school calendars and further the public discussion.
