Three Northfield Middle School students represented the school district at the Regional Spelling Bee in Rochester on Feb. 12.

Hannah Pahs, Jackson Hillmann and Anna Weber were among 56 participants, from the Southeast Service Cooperative’s region, competing to advance to the Southeast Minnesota Spelling Bee Final.

Hillmann, an eighth-grader, took 5th place in one of the two contests held that day, and Weber (sixth grade) earned a spot as an alternate participant.

In total, 12 spellers will participate in the final bee. The grand champion will advance to the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.
