Northfield’s PRIMEtime, a collaborative effort to provide out-of-school programming for youth in grades K-12, will be recognized as a 2012 City Showcase program by the National League of Cities (NLC) at a conference beginning Nov. 28.

The league’s Congress of Cities and Exposition event, to take place in Boston, will use the showcase to celebrate tried and tested ideas and city achievements. Representatives from the recognized programs will share knowledge about implementation strategies, successes and lessons learned.

Representing Northfield’s PRIMEtime project will be Zach Pruitt, Director of the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative, and Pat Parlin, Director of the Northfield Public Schools Area Learning Center and coordinator of the PLUS out-of-school time program in the district.

PRIMEtime serves more than 900 area children and youth per year. The collaborative is comprised of Tackling Obstacles and Raising College Hopes (TORCH), the Connected Kids mentoring program, Reaching Our Goals (ROG), Minnesota Alliance With Youth’s Promise Fellow Program, and the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative.
