More than 65 family members, teachers and administrators gathered at the Northfield High School on Dec. 13 to honor 13 high school seniors who have received semifinalist or “commended student” recognitions for their academic performance.

Receiving honors as semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship program were Atticus Christensen, son of Nelson Christensen and Karla Ballman; Merrill Lutsky, son of Neil Lutsky and Constance Walker; Lily O’Hara Brantner, daughter of Tim Brantner and Caroline O’Hara; Haley Ryan, daughter of Vincent and Julie Ryan; and Lauren Wustenberg, daughter of Dr. William and Wendy Wustenberg.

Students honored as commended scholars were John Breckenridge, son of Michael and Linda Breckenridge; Connor Fink, son of Kevin and Peggy Fink; Samuel Kennedy, son of Stephen Kennedy and Deanna Haunsperger; Allison Oberto, daughter of Norman and Lori Oberto; ARTech Charter School student Ella Ohnesorge, daughter of Clark and Allison Ohnesorge; Kai Olstad, son of Ken and Jill Olstad; Elena Ondich, daughter of Mary Dunnewold and Jeffery Ondich; and Courtney Terry, daughter of Lisa and Jon Wheeler and Jeff Terry.

Several teachers were recognized by the students for their impact on the students’ educational experience, including Mark Thornton, Troy Cohrs, Sarah Martens, Abbie Meierbachtol, Steve Meierbachtol, Chris Howard, Ryan Krminga, Simon Tyler and Chris Ellison.
