Help set a Guinness World Record while receiving a free swimming lesson! To build awareness of drowning prevention, thousands of people across the globe will try for the largest number of swimmers participating in a lesson in one day.

Community Services has teamed up with the Northfield Area Family YMCA and the Northfield Bull Sharks to host the event for Northfield.

World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ Details

  • Thursday, June 22
  • Northfield Area Family YMCA (1501 Honeylocust Drive)
  • Registration: 1:30–1:40 p.m. (pool deck)
  • Lesson: 1:45–2:15 p.m.
  • Open Swim: 2:15–2:45 p.m.
    A second lesson from 3 – 3:30 p.m. will be held if first lesson fills. (Participants may attend open swim; registration opens at 2:45 p.m.)

There is no pre-registration and the event is free. The event is for those ages 3+ and is for all abilities, parents included! Wear a swimming suit and bring a towel. All participants must have a parent or guardian present to sign a waiver at the time of registration.
