Dakota Prairie Adult Basic Education (ABE) offers free classes throughout the school year in Northfield for adults who need to brush up on their basic skills, complete their GED (General Education Development), prepare for college or improve their English skills. Adults age 16 and older, who are not currently enrolled in high school, are eligible to attend.

ABE classes are offered in partnership with Northfield Public Schools Community Services, at a variety of times, days and locations. Schedules vary slightly with each season, so please check the district’s Adult Basic Education web page for up-to-date class information or call 507.664.3764.

Classes are available to improve basic skills, including math, reading and writing, and computer and study skills. English classes for adult learners of all levels are also offered throughout the school year. English class topics include basic vocabulary, reading, writing and conversation.

Registration can be completed at the first class and free online study is available for students. Adults interested in official GED testing can also contact Adult Basic Education staff for more information.
